چکیده

Embryonic diapause or temporary cessation of embryonic development is a common phenomenon in the plant and animal species. embryogenesis blastocyst stage reproductive strategy characterized by delayed implantation uterus. It defined over 130 species mammals. occurs obligate facultative cases where embryo from to later stages not appropriate (eg, during environmental conditions lactation). The begins with entering metabolic proliferative state silence so reduction interruption mitosis embryo. When exit diapause, reactivation, returns active metabolism, mitotic activity restarts cell proliferation, process protective phenomenon, it represents an important developmental advantage for survival should be evolutionarily maintained.

Embryonic diapause: development on hold.

Embryonic diapause, the temporary suspension of development of the embryo, is a fascinating reproductive strategy that has been frequently exploited across the animal kingdom. It is characterized by an arrest in development that occurs at the blastocyst stage in over 130 species of mammals. Its presumed function is to uncouple mating from parturition, to ensure that both occur at the most propi...

Embryonic diapause in humans: time to consider?

BACKGROUND When a competent blastocyst stage embryo finds itself in an unreceptive uterus, it delays development. In around one hundred species representing various orders, this delay is known to be reversible, but this phenomenon - termed embryonic diapause (ED) - is not considered a general characteristic of all mammals. PRESENTATION OF THE HYPOTHESIS Recently, however, we demonstrated that...

Embryonic Diapause Is Conserved across Mammals

Embryonic diapause (ED) is a temporary arrest of embryo development and is characterized by delayed implantation in the uterus. ED occurs in blastocysts of less than 2% of mammalian species, including the mouse (Mus musculus). If ED were an evolutionarily conserved phenomenon, then it should be inducible in blastocysts of normally non-diapausing mammals, such as domestic species. To prove this ...

Breeding season and embryonic diapause in crabeater seals (Lobodon carcinophagus).

Direct observation of 387 embryos in the early stages of development was combined with observations on breeding behaviour and reproductive biology obtained from the published literature, to estimate the timing of births, oestrus, ovulation and implantation, and to derive estimates of the duration of pregnancy, embryonic diapause and active gestation for crabeater seals (Lobodon carcinophagus). ...

lates with the maturational stage of these cells. We have studied cyclin D1 expression in the inner ear. Besides its well known function in the cell cycle control, cyclin D1 has also been implicated in other cellular processes like cell death, cellular differentiation and cancer. During early embryogenesis cyclin D1 is widely expressed in the developing sensory epithelia, but it becomes downreg...
